Luigi Scarcelli - Producer, Director, Writer

Luigi Scarcelli is an American filmmaker, television host, and creative producer based in Portland, Maine. With a career spanning narrative film, live television, and public access programming, Luigi is known for his inventive storytelling, collaborative ethos, and commitment to regional voices. He is the co-founder and creative lead behind Luigi Scarcelli Official, a media collective that produces original content across TV, digital platforms, and live events—often in collaboration with Portland Media Center and independent artists throughout New England.

A graduate of Boston University’s film program, Luigi began his career directing independent features and shorts, including Cowboys and Indians (2003), the psychological thriller The Lower Circle (2009), and the holiday drama A Downeast Christmas (2022). His work explores themes of belonging, identity, and place, often using Maine as both a setting and a character. His television credits include The TV Set, The Doctor Is In, and Friday PM—a weekly late-night variety show he created and hosts. Since its launch in 2021, Friday PM has become a signature program on Channel 5, known for its mix of comedy, music, and community conversation.

Luigi’s projects are marked by a deep respect for creative risk-taking and regional storytelling. He often integrates live elements, improvisation, and real-life interviews, crafting media that feels immediate, local, and alive. Under his direction, Luigi Scarcelli Official has emerged as a major force in community media, helping revitalize Portland’s public access scene with fresh voices and bold formats. His leadership style combines humor and heart with a strong sense of purpose—fostering a collaborative culture that supports actors, musicians, comics, and media makers from diverse backgrounds.

In addition to his creative work, Luigi serves as a mentor to emerging talent and as an advocate for public-access media. Whether directing a fictional drama, hosting a cultural panel, or rolling tape on a New Year’s Eve special, he continues to shape Maine’s media landscape with style, sincerity, and Major League vision.
